Inmate Services
The capacity of both the Jail and Justice Center totals 325 inmates, with the average daily number of inmates being 260. The average length of stay is seven days. Rehabilitation offered at the facility includes behavioral health counselors, Narcotics Anonymous, Alcoholics Anonymous, GED program, parenting classes and religious services.
Inmate Visitation
Upon entry into the Rock Island County Jail, each inmate will receive a Visitor Registration Form. Each Inmate is allowed to have five visitors on his or her list, not including minors (minors are any persons under the age of 18). Inmates will be allowed to change their visitor registration on the first day of each month. If an inmate has five visitors listed and wishes to change his or her visitors he or she must remove a previously listed visitor before the new visitor can be added to their list. This should be done by writing the name(s) of the visitor(s) to be removed from the Visitors List on the back of the new Visitor Registration Form.
All visitors age 18 and above must have a valid form of identification with a photograph. If not, they will not be allowed to visit! Any person under the age of 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. We do not allow children to be unsupervised while adults visit (left in lobby or annex without an adult).
No more than four visitors per detainee will be allowed in the visitation area at any time. This includes minors under the age of eighteen. Visits are thirty minutes long. No exceptions! View the Inmate Visitation Hours Schedule (PDF).
Unruly behavior or excessive noise in our facility will be cause for the removal of the visitor disrupting the visitation area. The visitor(s) will then be entered in the computer as banned from any further visits. The Rock Island County Jail reserves the right to restrict visits for inmates and visitors.
Inmates are initially housed in one location but can be moved to different cell blocks with good cause. You should call 309-558-3455 to verify dates and times an inmate's cell block can receive visitors and/or commissary.
Commissary
Slips and money for inmates commissary accounts must be paid no later than 8 pm Sunday for that week's order schedule. Friends and Family can purchase packages full of tasty snacks and unique food items at iCare. (Please note we are Rock Island County commissary [IL], not Rock County Commissary [WI].)
Bond Payment
Bond payment may be made at the Rock Island County Jail, or you may use a 3rd-party online company GovPayNet. GovPayNet accepts the major credit and debit card brands including MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover. For more information, you may visit them at their website.
Trustees
Trustees are chosen by the Inmate Services Officer and must be willing to work. A background check is completed as a trustee must not have any violent charges or convictions. Trustees must display positive attitudes while they cook, clean, wash dishes, help feed the other inmates, wash the laundry, wash cars and clean the Courthouse, Jail, and Justice Center, and help in the County Office Building. Those chosen to be trustees also sweep the grounds, cut grass, pull weeds, shovel snow and plant flowers.
