Inmate Mail

Rock Island County Corrections PatchRock Island County Sheriff Darren Hart announces the partnership with ViaPath Technologies and Text Behind on implementing a new electronic mailing system for inmates at the Rock Island County Jail.

On July 1st, 2024, the address to send mail to inmates at the Rock Island County Jail will change. All personal mail such as letters, postcards, greeting cards, photographs, and drawings will be scanned and digitally delivered to the inmate via the facility's electronic tablet system. The only cost associated with this service for family and friends is that of a US postage stamp.

The scanned mail process prevents illegal narcotics, synthetics, and chemical intoxicants from entering the Rock Island County Jail through the mail in the form of paper coated in fentanyl, K2, Suboxone, or other dangerous drugs. These substances are hazardous to breathe or touch and can be nearly undetectable to correctional staff inspecting incoming inmate personal mail.

Inmates will not be able to reply or send digitally scanned mail. Inmates will continue to have the ability to correspond with family and friends through traditional mail services with the United States Postal Service.

This mail process only applies to personal mail such as letters, postcards, greeting cards, photographs, and drawings. This does NOT include money orders and attorney-client privileged mail. All legal mail and money orders shall be sent directly to the inmate at the Rock Island County Jail at 1317-3rd Avenue Rock Island, Il 61201.

If an inmate wishes to request the actual piece of mail, they must submit an inmate request to the Rock Island County Jail staff no later than 21 days after the receipt of the electronic mail delivery.

To report any mail delivery issues, contact Text Behind support directly at info@TextBehind.com.
