Who can file for VA Disability?

Anyone that has served in the United States Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, Space Force, and all Reserve/Guard Forces)

What should I bring to my first appointment if possible?

  • Marriage License (If Applicable)
  • Any Child Birth Certificates & SS cards (Under 18 years old)
  • Spouse Social Security Card (If applicable)
  • DD 214 if you have one
  • Any divorce decrees (if applicable)
  • Any Non - VA Medical Records you have right now knowing that you still may have more coming in the future.
  • Voided check or bank verification of your account that included your name, account #, routing #, and name of bank. (Bank statements are not accepted by the VA.)

Do I need to bring the Veteran if the Veteran is housebound due to health etc?

Its always best to bring the Veteran if possible but if not, no worries. Request a virtual or telephone appointment if needed when contacting us for appointment.

Do I have to make an appointment or can I walk in?

We do not take walk ins due to the increased need for our services. This allows us to be able to serve you better.

What are the cost for services provided?

All services are free and at no cost to the Veteran or their families. We are funded through the Illinois Military Veterans Assistance Act through great support and efforts of our Rock Island County board.

Are the Veteran Service Officers Accredited and through what organization?

All of our Veteran Service Officers are accredited through the National Association of County Veteran Service Officers. Learn more at: https://www.nacvso.org/organization

How does the VACRICO get their funding to assist Veterans?

Our annual budget for 2025 is $819,223 and the VACRICO is funded through tax dollars extending from the  Illinois Military Veteran Assistance Act 330 ILCS45/0.01 (Chap 23, Page 3080). MVAA

Do I qualify for financial assistance? Financial Assistance Requirements
